Many of the jobs that the Pinnacle Roof & Build team take on come from a simple enquiry about the client’s existing roof. Most of the time, our team are called to investigate the condition of a roof to withstand the change in season and adverse weather conditions.
A recent enquiry to investigate and advise on the condition of a roof in Woodsmoor, Stockport resulted in our team being booked to re-roof the property, complete with upgrades in ventilation and insulation, as well as an addition of a Velux window.
Investigation Leading to Project Go!
Our initial investigation into the conditioning of the existing roofing revealed that the old fascia soffits and gutters had rotted over time. This conditioning had spread to parts of the wall plates and roof spars too, resulting in a comprehensive amount of work on various sections of the roof.
We repaired the wall plates and spars using a new black UPVC fascia, soffit and gutter cladding, which will give a lifespan of around 35 years with no need to repaint and help keep the heating bills to a minimum within the property. We used a premium felt membrane which should last up to 25 years, along with treated battens.
Our team re-insulated the loft to bring it up to regulation (300mm) and installed a loft board stilt system to prevent compression. All 20×12 slates of the roof were then fixed with aluminium clout nails to prevent any future rusting.
Exterior Roof Work
For the remainder of the roof, our team welded new lead back guttering and lead flashings to the chimney stack for added security to the roof structure. The final part of the project was the fresh inclusion of a beautiful Velux window to the rear elevation of the roof, providing some additional natural lighting to the loft space.
The client was extremely happy with the work we implemented following a simple ‘investigate and advise’ meeting, and the property showcases the great potential that homes in the Woodsmoor area have with re-roofing work.
