When the team at Pinnacle are called on to undertake various roofing jobs, sometimes it is surprising the extent of damage and repair that is needed. One recent job certainly posed a challenge for our team when the property suffered a lot of fire damage.
A neighbouring tree caused the damage in question to the property catching fire which resulted in the flames blowing under the eave. The resulting damage called not only for a lot of work in stripping and replacing the roof, but was also an extreme caution for our team working around the damaged areas.
The extreme conditions of the roof would call for a longer term of working on the property, totalling up to 10 days for one team. This is double the typical time for a job on a 3-sided semi, with the added time involved in the removal of the burnt timber.
The team errected scaffolding for access and safe working whilst the careful operation was conducted in stripping the roof.
Whilst removing all of the burnt timber and replacing it with new perling and rafters, the team was pleasantly surprised to discover that the hip rafters had received zero damage from the fire. The ceiling joists on the affected side of the property had however completely burned into charcoal. This resulted in the team dropping the ceilings to renew the joists and follow with new insulation.
With the fire damage taken care of, the re-roofing of the property became the next task. We re-roofed the semi-detached property in our preferred Marley Ludlow major tiles, adding to the fresh roof with breathable felt and treated battens as standard.
Both chimneys had all new flashings and welded gutter backs.
We finished the job by replacing the facia, soffits, and gutters of the roof line for UPVC.
Whilst a majority of jobs do not involve such excessive damage to the roof, this job proved that the team at Pinnacle Roof and Build are poised for any type of re-roofing scenario.
