The team at Pinnacle Roof & Build, the go to Manchester roofing company, recently undertook a large re-roofing project in Bramhall which resulted in a lot of specialist work and additional elements. The job took 3-4 team members to complete from its first evaluation to its completion.
To do the task, we had to break the project down into stages which included work in stripping the existing, re-insulating, renewal of the box gutters, felting and battening, re-tiling and adding sun tunnels.
The project had old and broken rosemary tiles which required removal, and re-tiled with red clay 20/20 tiles. The 20/20 roof tile is considered a more modern take on traditional plain tiling, utilizing a modern interlocking system that provides greater performance and flexibility.
The tiles are pressed from a natural alluvial Humber clay which is a more premium material, chosen for its improved longevity, and has a more natural look. With its irregular design, it adds more texture and appeal to any roof.
The team re-insulated the roof and re-felted it with a breathable felt and treated graded battens keeping us compliant with building regs.
Once the roof was tiled, we finished the job with a dry ridge system which helps accommodate the eave – the lower border of the roof overhanging the wall – to the ridge ventilation system.
This specific re-roof called for some additional work with the installation of 3 sun tunnels bringing light to the bathroom and corridors within the house, something our team had done in the past with great results.
All box gutters on the project were re-rubbered and we also renovated the chimney for a complete look. There was no structural damage to the roof to be considered, however, the existing tiles had many that were in a state of disrepair which spelt accidents waiting to happen with the integrity of the roof.
