Our team at Pinnacle recently worked on a re-roofing project in the area of Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire. Many roofs around this area have a high level of needing work done due to the age of the buildings and the high weather conditions that they face.
The Problem
The home in question had seen some areas of damage in the roof, resulting in leaking in the valleys, typically caused by the membrane or underlay beneath the roofing materials.
On top of this problem, there were some broken tiles which were causing the battens to rot as a result. These were immediate problems that the team at Pinnacle knew had to be fixed.
The Project
The Pinnacle team separated the project into 4 stages to completely reinvigorate the roof with a completely new look and design.
We chose Marley Modern roofing tiles in a smooth grey tone. This interlocking tile provided a flat, smooth, single-lap design – a great looking addition to the home and a reliable re-roofing product that we always recommend.
We identified that windows required protection in the areas that were ready for stripping, which we prepared. Fallen debris and tiles pose a significant risk to windows during a re-roof, and our team were prepared to reduce all risk.
Gaps in the existing roof boards were covered with plywood. Any good roofing system requires a solid deck. This is quite a common practice in re-roofing – especially for older properties.
The loft space was fully re-insulated by our team with fire retardant, regulation 270mm thick roofing insulation.
Both the dry verge and ridge systems needed to be filled throughout. The dry ridge side involved fixing the ridge and hip tiles to the roof with screws and clamps, securing each ridge tile to the roof with waterproof unions beneath the screws to divert any water away from the join.
The Result
Upon the completion of the re-roofing project, the client was very happy with the finished result – another satisfied customer with the teamwork of the Pinnacle team.
