Pre-Work
The property required extensive work on re-roofing and insulation, with consideration taken into the removal of the existing parts of the roof.
Upon inspection of the property, our team were able to identify all aspects that would require safe removal before re-roofing the property. The roof would require several materials to be fully removed. All existing roof covering, including slates, batten, felt and debris were stripped from the top of the property and disposed of.
Stage 1
Once the existing roofing was completely stripped and cleared of debris, the team began the process of insulating between the spars. By adding this layer of insulation, as well as further insulting the underside of the rafters, we were able to give the client the maximum level of thermal benefit.
Once the insulation was completed, we set about felting the property with the use of a breathable membrane. This helped to prevent water ingress and allow it to simply drain off of the building rather than leak into it.
Our team then treated the roofing batten with an approved preservative, following that with stripping the roof by using the existing slates of the property, being sure to replace any breakages caused by the stripping. Once insulted, proceeded to felt the property using a breathable membrane and treated roofing batten.
Stage 2
The property was equipped with two chimneys, both requiring repointing to remove mortar and have new mortar applied correctly. Typically, work on chimney repointing only needs to be done once within 30-50 years, with the work done by Pinnacle able to last many years moving forward.
Both chimneys were also released using code 3 (1.32mm thickness) and code 4 (1.80mm) flashings, along with back gutters.
